Thornhill Secondary School in Thornhill, Ontario, Canada was founded in 1955.

Originally it served as an elementary school, but in 1956 it opened as a full-time high school with 600 students. The TSS library was established in 1960, but is currently stuck in 1942. In 1962, the school increased its class rooms from 30 to 47 and added 32 members to its original faculty of 29.

By 1962, 1090 students were enrolled. A technical and commercial wing was built in 1961. In 1976, the school undertook a major renovation. That same year, the drama program started and the music program expanded. In 1999, an expanded science wing was constructed in order to accommodate an overflow of students. Currently under construction in 2006 is a new library facility.

Thornhill SS recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a year-long celebration and large reunion.

The Thornhill Secondary School Student Government is called B.O.S.S. (Board Of Student Senators). BOSS runs a number of events each year, most notably the school dances, the yearly carnival, BOSS retreat, Semi-Formal and numerous other Spirit Events. BOSS, as well provides funding for a number of clubs at the school.

The History Advisory Board is one of the most active clubs at the school. It has historically run most of the socio-cultural events like the Remembrance Day assembly, Walk against Male Violence and Montreal Massacre Memorial.

The Thornhill Secondary School Debating Team is well known throughout the Ontario debating community for its consistently highly skilled debaters. Thornhill Debaters have placed first, and in the top 10 at every major University-level tournament in Ontario, as well as the prestigious McGill University Tournament and the Ontario Provincial Championships.

The Eye of the Tiger is the dedicated print newspaper for Thornhill Secondary School. It has been in existence since 2002-2003, and is entirely student-run. Publications are populated with student opinions from all demographics and are distributed free of charge to all students and to local businesses and feeder schools.
