Son of legendary Norse explorer, Leif Ericson, Thorkell Leifsson succeeded his father as paramount chieftain of Greenland some time after 1018 AD. Leif, himself, had previously succeeded his father, Eric the Red, or Eirikr Thorvaldsson.
