Thorhild Widvey

Thorhild Widvey (b. January 9, 1956, Torvastad, Rogaland) is the former Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy, from the Conservative Party (Høyre). A physical therapist by education, she has been leader of the Norwegian Sporting Association of People with Disabilities (1985-1987). After being active in local politics in Rogaland, she was elected member of the Norwegian Parliament in 1989, where she remained until 1997. She was State Secretary at the Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs (2002-2003), then at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before being appointed to her minister post in 2004. She left office, along with the rest of the Bondevik II government, after their 2005 election defeat.
Widvey lives in Oslo. She is married and has two children.
