Episodes
Follow That Flour
Thomas arrives at the wharf, where the standard-gauge and narrow-gauge lines meet. He met James there, and was supposed to collect James' truck of flour. But Thomas bumps the flour truck hard, causing the door of the truck to break! Thomas tries to play hide-and-seek with it, but James kept finding him because the flour created a path along the track. Eventually, Thomas realized this, and must collect more flour, but the mill is closed, and the trucks are all empty. Dusty Dave, however, points out one last full truck of flour. Together, Thomas and James move the other trucks out of the way and deliver the flour in time for the party.
- Featuring Thomas, James, Troublesome Trucks, and Dusty Dave.
- Cameos by Skarloey, Rheneas, Sir Handel, Peter Sam, Rusty, Duncan, Trevor, The Fat Controller, and Bulgy.
A Smooth Ride
Sir Handel returns to the narrow-gauge railway after being at the stone quarry all summer. He is taking some apples and he must be careful not to bruise them. But Sir Handel has a problem. He cannot make it up the hill, being an old engine, and asks Peter Sam to help him. Hiding the fact that he is not feeling well, he claims that he delivered the apples on his own. The same happens when he needs Duncan's help while taking some sheep. Sir Handel is doing a good job of keeping his secret, but soon he has to take Mr. and Mrs. Percival on a picnic at the top of a mountain. Once he again, he rattles and rocks, and, at first, Mr. Percival wants to send him back to the stone quarry, the place for bumpy engines. But instead he brings a repairman to fix Sir Handel and restore his title as the smoothest engine on the narrow-gauge railway!
- Featuring Sir Handel, Peter Sam, Mr. Percival, and Thomas.
- Cameos by Duncan, Mighty Mac, and Mrs. Percival.
- Sir Handel's personality has drastically changed since season 4; he is mentioned to be the "smoothest engine on the narrow-gauge railway", and is portrayed with a "kinder" attitude.
Thomas and the Jet Plane
Thomas is very proud of being a steam engine. On his way to collect the children from the airport for their picnic, he meets Jeremy, a new jet plane. Jeremy boasts of all the good qualities of being a jet plane. Thomas isn't very proud of being a steam engine anymore. Several things that hold him up on his way, like signals and cows on the line, make him want to be a jet plane even more. But when Jeremy spots a storm on the way, the picnic is canceled! But, as he's taking them back, Thomas has an idea for where to relocate the picnic: Jeremy's hangar! Sir Topham Hatt congratulates both Jeremy and Thomas, and Thomas realizes that being a steam engine has its good qualities, too!
- Introducing Jeremy.
- Featuring Thomas, Jeremy, The Fat Controller, and Percy.
- Cameos by Lady Hatt, Annie and Clarabel, and James.
- Jeremy is the first character to be represented by CGI in an episode rather than an interactive segment.

As the other engines pass him with their important loads, Percy has an idea. He decides to leave his coal behind and try to help the other engines. But none of them need help - until they all run out of coal! Percy rushes back to where he left his trucks, and gets it to the others so they can refill. The carnival goes underway, and Percy realizes that coal delivery is important as well.
- Featuring Edward, James, Percy, Toby, Emily, and The Fat Controller.
- Cameos by Thomas, Henry, Gordon, Annie and Clarabel, and The Chinese Dragon.
The Green Controller
Percy is alone at Tidmouth until Lady Hatt arrives. She explains that Sir Topham Hatt has lost his voice, and she ives Percy the important task of telling the engines their jobs. But he has trouble remebering the orders. He tells Gordon to pull slow cars when he should be pulling china slowly. He tells James to be repainted as a bee, when he should be pushing coal cars 'as busy as a bee'. Finally, he tells Toby to pull the Express when he should be taking vacationers to the Scottish Castle as fast as the Express. The children soon laugh at the engines, and Percy realizes his mistakes. Thomas offers help, and he leads Percy to remembering the proper tasks. Sir Topham Hatt soon 'finds' his voice, and Percy never wants him to lose it again!
- Featuring Thomas, Gordon, James, Percy, Toby, The Fat Controller, Lady Hatt and Troublesome Trucks.
- James is the first engine in the TV series who is painted differently from his normal coat, which in his case is red. He was painted yellow with thick black stripes like a bumblebee.

Duncan Drops a Clanger
The county fair comes, and all the narrow-gauge engines are busy. Rusty's taking flowers, Peter Sam is taking pumpkins, and Duncan is taking the clock tower bell to the polishers. On his way, he notices the sounds his wheels make, and simply goes back and forth listening carelessly, despite Rheneas' warning to be on time. Duncan is very late, but soon falls in love with the bell's chime. He should be going slowly, but he rocks to make the bell keep chiming. The others all warn him, but without success. Finally, Duncan hits a very bumpy spot. The bell tumbles down the hill. Duncan thinks the bell is gone forever until he hears a faint chime in the background...it's the bell! He eventually finds it hanging from the branch of a tree, and rolls underneath just in time to catch it. Duncan gets the bell safely to the polishers in time for it to return to its home on the clock tower, where Duncan still thinks it's grand!
- Featuring Skarloey, Rheneas, Sir Handel, Rusty, Duncan and Mighty Mac.
- Cameos by Peter Sam, Mr. Percival.
- This is the first episode since the Season 8 episode "Squeak, Rattle and Roll" that doesn't feature Thomas in any way.
- Mighty Mac speaks for the first time since their first episode.
Thomas' Tricky Tree
Sir Handel delivers a tree to the wharf, and the Fat Controller sends Thomas to collect it. As he searches for it, he encounters Duncan, who teases Thomas by describing what a Christmas tree looks like to him. Thomas doesn't find this funny, and he decides to refuse more 'help' from the little engines. Eventually, he finds what he believes is the tree. But he should've accepted help from Skarloey, because he soon crashes into the canal, revealing that he found a load of pipes instead! A rather embarrassed Thomas soon learns that only Sir Handel knows where the tree is, and he decides to apologize for not listening and ask for help. He meets his friend at the transfer yards; Sir Handel happily leads him to the tree, and Thomas brings it to the Fat Controller just in time!
- Featuring Thomas, Skarloey, Sir Handel, Rusty, and Duncan.
- Cameos by James, Mighty Mac, Peter Sam, and The Fat Controller.
Toby's Afternoon Off
Toby finishes his jobs early, so he plans to visit Farmer McColl's farm for the rest of the afternoon. But the Fat Controller arrives with three important jobs for Toby. This means that Toby may miss the farm without any help from his friends. So, he asks Mavis, Thomas, and Salty for help...but all are in a hurry with other jobs. Toby is about to start his final job, but Cranky explains that the ship carrying Toby's cargo is stuck in a storm, and won't be there until morning. Toby is delighted about getting to visit the farm after all, and rushes off. But he meets Henry along the way, who has broken down. Apparently, the reason Toby's friends didn't help Toby was because they were helping an engine that needed it more. Toby also offers to help Henry - by taking his heavy coaches. They tire Toby out, and it takes him the rest of the day, but all he wants now is to know that he's helped a friend!
It's Good to be Gordon
Gordon's one pull away from beating the record, and all of the engines are excited for him. He takes on coal at the coaling plant, but he is stopped because he was accidentally given Henry's special coal. Gordon suddenly thought that this coal could make him go even faster, so he pretends that he didn't hear. Henry arrives, and tries to stay hopeful that he will be able to go through the day without his special coal. While Gordon's running nicely and proudly, Henry's billowing black smoke and coughing. When Thomas tells Gordon about Henry's illness, Gordon starts worrying about Henry on the way to Knapford. He's less than five yards away from the station when he turns around to find Henry. He apologizes and suggests that they swap tenders. Doing so, they both arrive safely at Knapford. Gordon still feels sorry about taking the coal, and disappointed about not setting the record, but Thomas reminds Gordon that he still has the old record!
- Featuring Henry, Gordon, Thomas, and The Fat Controller.
- Cameos by Edward, James, Emily, and Percy.
- This is the first time since Season 1 that Henry has needed special coal for an illness.
Seeing the Sights
Thomas is sent to take some sightseers on a tour of the island. Gordon teases Thomas that he'd never be able to get the passengers across the island as quickly as he could. A cross Thomas then speeds off once he hears a door close, leaving a bunch of passengers behind! Luckily, Bertie notices and takes them on a run to catch Thomas. But when Bertie catches up with him, he speeds off again! He also leaves at the sound of a door closing at Black Loch and the Scottish Castle, and he also leaves more passengers behind! At the Fishing Village, he doesn't hear the familiar sound of the door - because no one's left on board! Bertie catches up once again, and explains what happened. Thomas takes Bertie's passengers and then travels back to pick up the forgotten passengers. Afterwards, he arrives at the seaside, where the passengers wish to stay all day, as he does. Even though Gordon teases him, he still believes in seeing one sight properly as opposed to rushing to see them all!
- Featuring Thomas, Gordon, Bertie, and The Fat Controller.
- Cameos by James, The Refreshment Lady, and Cyril the Fogman.
Fearless Freddie
Thomas is taking Fearless Freddie, an old narrow-gauge engine, back to the Skarloey Railway. When Thomas and Freddie arrive at the Transfer Yards, Sir Handel recalls seeing Freddie years ago. Skarloey and Rheneas arrive, finishing a race. They boast that they're the fastest engines in the hills to Freddie, who claims he's still fastest and challenges the two to a race. He has trouble getting to the top of the mountain, being as old as he is. He eventually arrives and they begin the race. Freddie starts to fall short of steam, and is determined not to lose. He remembers an old track that's shorter, so he cheats by using it. Skarloey and Rheneas are impressed, and want to race him again. They do so, and again Freddie cheats. Meanwhile, Rheneas and Skarloey get too excited, and Rheneas flies off the track and down the mountain! Skarloey informs Freddie. Freddie admits to Mr. Percival, brought by Sir Handel, and Skarloey that he cheated in the races, and leads the others down his secret tracks to where Rheneas fell. Freddie pulls him back onto the track. They return to the Transfer Yards, Freddie apologizes, and then tells the others stories from the old days.

Toby's New Shed
Thomas meets Toby at Arlesdale End, and notices that he's wet. He also sees that Toby's shed's roof is full of holes, and that he was rained on in his sleep. Thomas informs the Fat Controller and offers to bring the supplies to build the new roof. Thomas tells Toby the news, but he looks rather glum upon hearing. Thomas meets up with Percy, who's delivering a birdhouse to Farmer McColl. After telling Percy the whole story, Thomas arrives at Arlesdale End and lets the workmen build the new roof. But when Thomas asks Toby what he thinks, Toby tells him that he liked the holes for the birds that nested in them. Thomas, feeling ashamed, puffs away. He notices the birdhouse that Percy delivered earlier, and has an idea. He asks the workmen to build a birdhouse out of the old wood, and it's set next to Toby's shed. The bird have a home, and Toby can be dry under his new roof. Now, everyone's happy!
Big Strong Henry
It is winter on the Island of Sodor and Henry is disappointed not to be chosen to pull some heavy loads for Farmer McColl. Gordon gets the job and boasts that he is the strongest engine. The other engines tell Gordon that he'll soon see just how strong Big Strong Henry is, a promise that has Henry worried. Henry's friends soon find a way for Henry to prove his strength to Gordon - by pulling Farmer McColl's loads so Gordon can see. This makes Gordon cross and Henry decides he quite likes being Big Strong Henry. Henry takes his heaviest load yet, twenty trucks of hay bales, up a hill - but they're too heavy! The trucks derail at the bottom of the hill, while Gordon takes his last heavy load, some cows. Henry is very sorry for causing trouble, but spots that Gordon has puffed away leaving one of his trucks open - letting all the cows escape! Clever Henry uses his hay to lead the cows all the way to Farmer McColl's proving that you don't need to be strong to be useful!

Toby is damaged so Thomas offers to take the toffee for Toby. On his way to the party Thomas again daydreams about what costume to wear. He doesn't see some points have changed and races into a siding. He hits the buffers and toffee goes all over him. Thomas is running late so takes a shortcut down an old overgrown line. Branches and leaves stick to him. Thomas arrives at the party with the toffee just in time. He's sorry to be in such a mess. Which Way Now?
Rusty has two jobs. One is to take some workers to put up direction signs along the mountain trails and the other is to take Sir Topham Hatt and his family to the mountains for a walk. Rusty is so keen to be on time for Sir Topham Hatt that he rushes the workers. He makes them finish without checking their work. Rusty takes the Hatt family to the start of their walk and arranges to meet them at the tea rooms later. When the Hatt Family don't turn up at the end of their walk, Rusty is worried. He searches the mountains and when he finds campers at the quarry, fishermen at the coalmine and skiers at the castle, he realizes that the signposts must be wrong! Rusty quickly deduces where the Hatts must be and races off to find them at Hill Farm! They've had a wonderful day, but Rusty has one more job to do. He fetches the workmen to fix the signs. And this time, he doesn't rush them!

A shooting star is due to light up the night sky on the Island of Sodor. All the engines are making wishes. When the power on the island fails, Thomas is sent to the power station with some engineers. Thomas puffs across the island but, desperate to see the shooting star, avoids taking any route that will obstruct his view of the night sky. This made his trip longer and longer. Percy gets worried for Thomas and wishes that Thomas returns safely. Thomas, however, has taken such a long route that he's lost! He wishes he could see so he could take the fastest route. Wharf and Peace
Skarloey feels scared and doesn't like going to the wharf. One day he has an accident, and James and the trucks laugh at him. This makes Skarloey sadder than ever, and soon he goes up the line. He helps Rusty cross an old bridge and Duncan cross a flooded part of the line. Later, he saves Rheneas from a lot of rolling logs, and Rheneas says that Skarloey is the bravest engine of all. Skarloey returns to the wharf and feels more confident, and keeps the troublesome trucks in their place.
- Featuring Skarloey, Rheneas, Rusty, Duncan, Troublesome Trucks, Thomas, and James.
- The title of this episode is a reference to the famous novel War and Peace.
Thomas' Frosty Friend
It's always busy on Sodor during Wintertime. There is a large snowman near the line side and Percy and Thomas admire it when they stop nearby. A gust of wind lifts up the snowman, because it is only a balloon - the ropes on the balloon gets caught on Thomas' buffers and he sees it floating in front of him when he stops. He wants the snowman to return to the field, but it follows him to the Docks. James notices it and Thomas repeats that he wants it to go back to the children. Thomas collects his load and puffs away, with the balloon still in tow. He reaches the Farm and Farmer McColl notices the snowman, too! At Maithwaite, Emily also sees the balloon, and Thomas is now more fed up than ever. Thomas thinks of how he can get the snowman to go away. He hides in a siding, but the snowman bobs down in front of Thomas again. Thomas goes to see the Fat Controller, who explains everything. On the way, she is rude to Diesel who is not impressed to hear about Gordon's award. Diesel tries to tell her something but Emily steams away. Crossly, Diesel takes the coaches and hides them in a siding. When the Fat Controller catches up with Diesel, he orders him to show Emily where the coaches are. On the way, Diesel's very old engine starts to splutter. Diesel explains that he also has broken a record, for shunting trucks. And he was cross that Emily didn't listen. Emily is sorry and later at before Gordon's ceremony, she plans a surprise for Diesel with the Fat Controller, who agrees. At the ceremony, Gordon is awarded with his new coaches, and Diesel, to his utmost surprise, is awarded with a brand new diesel motor. Thomas resorts to desperate measures and arranges for James to puff into a siding. This destroys James' decorations! Thomas is horrified at what he has done. Thomas sees Bertie who has broken down on his way to the match with lots of children. Thomas offers to take the children and borrows the children's flags and scarves to decorate James with. Duncan's Bluff
Villagers, high up in the hills, need plenty of coal as Sodor is in the deep of winter. Duncan is taking coal there from the Wharf, which James delivers. For a lark, Duncan says he will race James. But when Rheneas arrives at the hill, he can't manage both his and Skarloey's trucks, so he leaves Skarloey's coal in a siding. He delivers his slate at the wharf, and instantly returns to fetch Skarloey's trucks. But the coal trucks are missing. Rheneas is desperate to fix the problem he's made. A Maritime Museum is to be opened on Sodor, by an Admiral. When Thomas picks him up from Brendam Docks, Salty tells Thomas the story, as well as giving him the relevant clues about long lost treasure, belonging to pirates, which has been buried somewhere on the Island. Unfortunately for the Admiral, this means he will be late for the opening, as Thomas becomes simply enraptured by the idea and can’t stop thinking about it for the whole journey! Most annoyed by distracted little Thomas terribly delaying the Admiral, the Fat Controller arranges for him to be transported by Harold the Helicopter instead. Despite this, Thomas decides he will find that treasure.
Featuring Thomas, Salty, Emily, James, Harold and The Fat Controller.
James the Second Best
A Railway Poster is to be produced, and the Fat Controller needs an engine to be the centre of it – and that engine is decided to be Edward. James is most jealous of Edward when he learns of the news. He wanted to be the engine on that poster. So James decides to try and prove to the Fat Controller that it should be him, and not Edward, who gets the gig. After numerous attempts to keep one step ahead of Edward, he finally manages to get onto the poster...but not the way he originally wanted.
Thomas and Skarloey's Big Day Out
Skarloey is in dire need of repairs, but the workshop is all the way over on the other side of Sodor. Thomas kindly comes forward, in that he will transport Skarloey there. Once Skarloey is on a flatbed truck, the Fat Controller warns Thomas about its coupling, as it could easily come loose.
Skarloey is feeling very miserable, so Thomas tries as hard as he can to make the little chap feel better, by showing him around.
