Thomas Kuruvilla is responsible for Arthur D. Little's operations in the Middle East. Thomas is also the Head of the Strategy and Organizationpractice in South Asia and Middle East. He has been with Arthur D. Little for over ten years and was responsible for Arthur D. Little'sSingapore office.
Thomas has extensive consulting and operational/management experience in the Middle East, Europe and South East Asia in the areas of strategy development and implementation, due-diligence, merger and acquisitions, and performance management. He has also worked extensively in the areas of turnaround and performance management in various industries.
Thomas has experience in various industry (Telecoms , Maritime, The Financial Services ) and functional (Strategy and Organization, M&A, BPR) practices.
Telecoms: Worked with regulators, telecom operators and equipment vendors in the areas of - telecom regulation/policies, fixed and mobile license bidding, strategy development, M&A, organization design, performance management, and process redesign.
Maritime: Managed assignments with port operators and integrated logistics operators in the areas of strategy development, organization development and performance management.
The Financial Services: Helped various investment houses in the Middle East and Asia to set-up and manage investments including - Private Equity Fund, Debt & Corporate Venture Fund. Work involved developing the overall strategy, organization structure, processes and policies for investment units.
Strategy and Organization: Worked mostly with conglomerates – public and family owned – in developing portfolio, conglomerate & business unit strategies including portfolio rationalization, investments and divestments. Supported companies with market entry strategies, entering South Asia and Middle East.
BPR: Managed extensive process design assignments for telecom operators and integrated logistics providers.
Management Roles: Hired by ADL’s client (a leading e-commerce service provider in Asia) to worked as the interim CEO to turnaround the company. Hired by ADL’s client (an integrated telecom operator) to head their strategy and business development unit.
Thomas has a Bachelors degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Kerala University and an MBA from the Melbourne Business School, Australia/Asian Institute of Management, Philippines. Before joining Arthur D. Little he worked for five years in the Industrial Automation Division of Larsen and Toubro, the largest engineering company in India. Thomas conducts lectures for the Executive MBA programmes by various institutes. Thomas is also a speaker in conferences in the areas of Strategic Planning, Turnaround Management and Corporate Venturing.
