Thomas Kirwan

Thomas Kirwan (b. 1933) represents District 100 in the New York State Assembly, which includes both the town and city of Newburgh, as well as Beacon, Poughkeepsie, Marlboro, Lloyd and Shawangunk.

First elected in 1994, Kirwan is the current Ranking Minority Member on the Assembly Committee on Cities, as well as a member of several other standing committees, including Education, Ways and Means and Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.

Prior to his election to the Assembly Kirwan served for 28 years with the New York State Police, retiring with the position of Lieutenant in the Bureau of Criminal Investigations. He also spent four years with the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force.

He holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from Mount Saint Mary College.
