Thomas Hutchinson (MP)

Sir Thomas Hutchinson was born at Owthorpe, Nottinghamshire, England in 1587, and died 18 August 1642 in London, England. His first marriage was to Lady Margaret Byron,daughter of Sir John Byron, of Colwick and later Newstead Abbey and Lady Margaret FitzWilliams. His second marriage was to Lady Catherine Stanhope of Shelford. She was the daughter of Sir John Stanhope (created Baron Stanhope on May 4,1605) and Lady Catherine Trentham. Sir Thomas went to the University of Cambridge. Sir Thomas Hutchinson was elected M.P. for Nottingham. He was a close friend of King Charles I of England. He was given many important missions by the king, as a trusted friend of the king. He was the son of Sir Thomas Hutchinson and Lady Jane Sacheverell. They lived at Owthorpe the family estate in Nottinghamshire, England. His son is better known, he was colonel John Hutchinson, who was married to Lady Lucy Apsley. He is also the great-great-great grandfather of U.S. president Andrew Jackson.
