Thomas Cobham

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Archdeacon of Lewes and former Chancellor of Cambridge Thomas Cobham was nominated to replace Archbishop Winchelsey in 1313 by the Monks of Christ Church Canterbury. King Edward II intervened and petitioned the Pope to appoint the Bishop of Worcester Walter Reynolds. Pope Clement V acquiesced and issued a bull dismissing the monk's election of Cobham and instating Reynolds in his stead.
