Major General Sir Thomas Arbuthnot KCB (11 September 1776 – 17 January 1849) was born in Rockfleet Castle, Co Mayo, Ireland as sixth son of John Arbuthnot, Sr of Rockfleet Castle. Died unmarried at his residence in The Crescent, Salford. Lt General, 71st Highlanders. As a Captain, he, Lt Graham, Lt Murray and 30 men were in action in Lujan, Buenos Aires, 3 - 10 July 1805 [1]. Served through the Peninsular War and was ADC to King George III in 1814. He was brother of General Sir Robert Arbuthnot, Bt, KCB and Charles Arbuthnot and Rt Rev Alexaander Arbuthnot. He was uncle of Alexander John Arbuthnot, George Bingham Arbuthnot and Charles George Arbuthnot.
