Thirumukom

Thirumukom (meaning "high face"(thiru+mukom) or "high self") was a hereditary title conferred by Rajahs in the state of Kerala, in the kingdom of Travancore mostly. The Pillai's of Travancore are holders of the Thirumukom.Thiruvati (thiru+vati) the noble stick, is another title conferred thus.
In Kerala Thirumeni was the title generally used while addressing Namboodiri Brahmins. Rajahs and Royal Men were called Thirupads meaning highness. Thirumukom was a step below this, accorded to the Pillais of Travancore mainly.
