Thirty Major Zeman's Cases (Třicet případů majora Zemana) is a Czechoslovak action-drama TV-series filmed in 1974.

Each episode follows one year and investigations are stylized to that year mostly inspired by the real cases. Series follows life of police investigator Jan Zeman during his career between 1945 and 1975.

After the Velvet Revolution it was labeled as a work of propaganda, glorifying the police of communist Czechoslovakia and distorting the actual history. [1]

The first episode takes place in 1945. Young Jan Zeman returns from a Nazi concentration camp. In the train he meets Václav Kalina, who tells him about his plan to join the police forces. Jan returns to his home village and finds only his mother there. He discovers that his father has been murdered during the celebrations. Police is unable to find the murderer and closes the case, Jan begins investigation on his own. Then he reveals a conspiracy and calls his friend Václav Kalina in Brno's police headquarter; eventually, the murderers are captured. Kalina induces Jan to join the police and serve with him.
