Thievius Raccoonus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Thievius Raccoonus is a fictional book in the Sly Cooper series of games. The book is passed down from generation to generation within the Cooper family, and contains information on special techcniques devised by Sly's thief ancestors.
In the first game of the series, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, it is explained that on the night Sly was to inherit the book, the main villains of the game, the "Fiendish Five", broke into the Cooper residence. They killed Sly's father and tore the Thievius Raccoonus into five parts, each taking a section. Throughout the game, Sly retrieves the sections of the book by defeating each member of the Fiendish Five.
The sections of the book (with the exception of the chapter obtained from the Panda King, which held information used to improve the Cooper gang's getaway van and the chapter obtained from Clockwerk, the contents of which are not mentioned) contain Master Thief Moves, techniques which Sly needs in order to get through the next levels. Such techniques include the Ninja Spire Jump, Rail Walk/Slide, and Invisibility Technique.
Other pages of the Thievius Raccoonus are stored in vaults throughout the levels, and are obtained by finding the clues within each level and entering the codes that Bently supplies. These pages generally contain techniques that are useful, though not necessary to complete the game. Such moves are the Rolling Raccoon, Fast Attack Dive, and Explosive Hat Technique.
