Ys: The Ark of Napishtim (also known as Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim) is the sixth installment in the Japanese Action-RPG series Ys. It has been released for the PC, PlayStation 2 and the PlayStation Portable systems (there's also a cellphone version that can only be played in Japan). The events of Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim take place three years after the events of Ys V: Kefin, The Lost City of Sand and is a direct sequel to that game.
Its initial release was for Microsoft Windows-based PCs in 2003. More notable was the 2005 PlayStation 2 port, which Falcom licensed to Konami, as it was the first Ys title to receive an English-translated release since Ys III: Wanderers from Ys.
[edit] Gameplay
The Ark of Napishtim continues and expands on the gameplay concepts used in Ys V. The player controls the main character, Adol, on a 3D playing field. Adol has the ability to jump and swing his sword to attack enemies.
[edit] Music
Soundtrack releases for The Ark of Napishtim include:
- Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim Original Sound Track (2003): The complete soundtrack to Ys VI.
- The Songs of Zemeth - Ys VI Vocal Collection (2005): A small collection of vocal arrangements of Ys VI tracks. Included is a second disc which contains vocal-free versions of these arrangements.
