First mentioned in Pilot. One of the most powerful vampire houses. The Chthonians are elitists who consider themselves the leaders of the Vampire Nation, although it is apparently a self-appointed title not bearing universally accepted authority. This house was founded by Lord Chthon, and his sword became their sacred relic. The House of Chthon has a violent history, and many of their purebloods were slain in a past war against the House of Erebus.[2]

  • Location: Detroit
  • Notable Members:
    • Pureblood(s): Charlotte (ashed by Blade, using one of his UV Glaives), Overlord Rusk (former, killed by the Aurora Virus), 4 Elders (former, killed by the Aurora Virus)
    • Turned Human(s): Marcus Van Sciver, Chase, Krista Starr, Glynnis (ashed by Krista, using a silver backed mirror)
    • Unknown: Sabine, Fritz (former, beheaded by Krista), Thorne(former, ashed by Blade with two silver stakes to the head), Winston (ashed by Cain with a silver crossbow bolt)
    • Familiars: Tucker Moffet, Brian Boone (turned by Krista, now unaffiliated).

First mentioned in Pilot, and then "Descent" and "Bloodlines". The Leichens are vampires that have sworn off of killing humans, and drink only cloned blood. They believe that murdering to feed is wrong and pollutes vampires. They are the only house to conduct the Blood ritual which connects a vampire with those they have turned.

  • Location: Oregon
  • Notable Members:
    • Pureblood(s): None mentioned
    • Turned Human(s): Frederick

[edit] Armaya

First mentioned in episode "Descent". Used in experiments to create Aurora. The House of Armaya is an exiled house with only one pureblood and no seat on the vampire council. They were the catalyst of the civil war that divided the Vampire Nation. After the uprising was quelled, the Armayans were scattered throughout the world and became largely associated with organized crime. They are considered the "gangsters and thugs" of the vampire world

  • Location: Louisiana
  • Notable Members:
    • Pureblood(s): Damek (ashed by Marcus with Tomahawk to the Head)
    • Turned Human(s):

[edit] Saqqara

First mentioned in episode "Bloodlines". They have lower standards than the average vampire house, and will let outcasts join their ranks.

[edit] Erebus

Main article: House of Erebus

First mentioned in episode "Turn of the Screw".

  • Location: Las Vegas
  • Notable Members:
    • Pureblood(s): Dragonetti (head elder; exposed to sunrise), ten elders sacrificed in the ritual that turned Frost into the blood god La Magra; one elder killed by Mercury for insulting her), Alex (exposed to Aurora virus)
    • Turned Human(s): Deacon Frost (after becoming La Magra, he was covered in auto-injector hypodermic stakes, filled with EDTA. He later exploded.),
    • Familiars: Officer Krieger (killed by Frost)

[edit] Falsworth

Mentioned on sneekpeaktv.com, and other webpages that were discussing the details of the new Blade Series. This house was supposed to be in the pilot. There was a vampire killed in Russia that was not linked to a specific house; and this house was not mentioned in the pilot. [3]
Location:Unknown

[edit] Trivia

  • The name for the House of Chthon is probably taken from the Marvel Comics demon of the same name. In the comics, Chthon was the writer of the Darkhold, the mystical book from which vampires where originally conjured. In the series, Marcus refers to Lord Chthon, who supposedly rose up in the year 1 and led his fellow vampires to a major victory that formed the 12 Houses.
  • In Quake(1996, Id Software), Chthon is the name of the enemy boss at the end of the first episode, in a level named house of Chthon.
  • Falsworth is the family name of Union Jack, a superhero from the Marvel Comics universe. His brother and arch-nemesis John Falsworth, also known as Baron Blood, was a vampire.
