[edit] Block requests and some other vandal-fighting suggestions
Hi there. Thanks for your vandal fighting! I have a couple of suggestions for you. I noticed that you have made several requests to have users blocked at WP:ANI here, here, and here. You may have realised it already, but the proper place to report users that require a block is WP:AIV. That page is checked very regularly and it often only takes one or two minutes for a user to get blocked, whereas WP:ANI is checked rather less frequently. I also noticed from your contributions log that you are adding welcome notices from your own template page, which is fine. You can also add the same message by adding on the user's page; there are other welcome messages (and all the userpage warning messages) at WP:UTM. Please note that almost all userpage warnings require that they be substituted, which is explained (but not very evident) at the top of the WP:UTM page. You do this by putting subst: before the warning, e.g. . As well it's a good idea to specify the page that the warning is about. This helps the vandal (especially in those instances where their acts were done in good faith) and other vandal fighters. You do this by putting a "pipe" | (above the backslash) after the warning, e.g. . If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer further. Keep up the good work! Regards, Flyguy649talkcontribs 14:28, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Adoption
Hello, I dont want to be adopted, I just know how to conatct you or how user talk works. You left a "speedy deletion" on a Linda Ronstatdt reference in an Echo Park article. I dont want to sound rude, but why should you even care, you dont even LIVE in Echo Park. You probably dont even KNOW anyone who has ever lived there( except perhaps one of the newer hapless and clueless yuppies that have recently migrated there). Besides, I thought that it automatically linked the WikMusic reference, which it didnt(I thought Wikpedia and WikMusicguide were somehow related, silly me). In any case, I added something to the stub, but I think I footnoted it incorrectly on the original "Echo Park" article. So I leave you know so you may contnue picking lint off your sweater and correcting article inclusions....teens....SHEESH!!!!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by {} (talk • contribs).

[edit] Pop Quiz
I actually think that I know this one! First, you would check the article's history to see if the page was vandalised. If it was, it should be reverted, and the vandalizer(s) should recieve an appropriate warning and message. If it wasn't vandalised, a "cleanup" template should be added, as well as a reason for the cleanup. I think that's it... --Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 20:32, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unique Concept
I changed the original listing for Liav Fund into what I believe is appropriate for Wikipedia. The standard meaning of venture capital is a company that provides funding for startups or established companies, but often don't provide the experience needed to help them succeed and thus, most fail. What is unique about Liav Fund is that they do provide the hands on help to young companies to get to market. This important difference should be noted. The link to Liav Fund follows from the listing of venture capital companies. You can find there other companies, such as Atlas Venture and others, who have similar entries but may not be as unique in concept to Liav Fund. So I respectfully request to have the speedy deletion removed. Many thanks. User:Davidl40

Oops! I inverted the format... Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 00:25, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well, if you haven't already heard, there's been a huge debate over the importance of autograph books and some people think that they should all be deleted. A list of autograph books was created, and mine was on there too. Some user saw my autograph book, and then decided to look at my userpage. Apparently, he thought that it violated WP:MYSPACE, so he listed my userpage and all of my other "disruptive and unimportant" subpages onto an MfD. *takes deep breath* And that's what happened. Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 00:33, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
The main reason for the high user page edit count is because I just recently discovered the "show preview" button. That was a mistake, and if I had used it, I reckon that my userpage's edit count would be more like 300.
Also, I used to help other user's design his or her user page, so that increased the edit count too. I don't help users much anymore, just so that I can get more mainspace edits. Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 00:36, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Regarding the notability tag on that article . . . I tagged it for notability because the claims of notability were not backed up by the sources. However, the unreferenced tag is fine too, so I'm not going to change it back. janejellyroll 02:23, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] In response to your question
Well, I am fairly new to wikipedia. I suppose I have edited a little bit without an account for maybe a month or so, mostly minor edits, but I made an account and attempted to help out more about a week ago. I really only know what I've been able to figure out- How to join join a translation, how to identify vandalism, post warnings, and report vandals, and some basics of the wiki code to write articles. What I would like to learn is how to help more, and what I can best help with- I have a good amount of free time, and am very willing to help out, but, other than translating a couple of articles and reporting a few vandals, I have no idea what to do!
EDIT: I changed the {adoptoffer} you posted on my user page to {Adoptee|Theunicyclegirl}. I'm assuming this was the right thing to do, if not, please tell me!
Well, I would like to learn how to find requests for content additions about certain subjects ( I would certainly imagine there is a feature with this very purpose somewhere on the Community Portal) So that I could perhaps help out in at least semi-technical areas involving Chemistry, for example. Also, I would like to learn how to create my own userboxes.
Thanks for the link to the chemistry stub page! I think that will keep me busy for some time. But also, I was wondering if there was a list of chemistry pages whose creation had been requested somewhere?
[edit] Your VandalProof Application
Dear Theunicyclegirl,
Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Daniel Bryant 22:13, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The edit to your talk page
The post you're reffering to was made last Thursday night by a friend of mine. He showed up at my house drunk out of his mind, and I let him crash on my sofa, as my parents weren't home that night. I really didn't plan on telling his parents about it, until I noticed what he had posted to your talk page, which was still on my computer screen. I am assuming he picked your page because it was what was in my browser when I went to bed (and I have "remember me" checked, so it does not log me out). I went ahead and reverted his edit, because I didn't think it was relevant to anything that went on here in wikipedia, and was vandalism at best. I chose not to tell you about it because I thought, correctly, that explaining it would be kind of awkward- I just kind of hoped you wouldn't notice.
I suppose I should apologize to you. It probably was not the best decision not to inform you of this, and I realize that edits cannot actually be permanently deleted. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bobo The Ninja (talk • contribs).

- I know how to, I go every so often. But how often do you go? Every day? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 21:48, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, I learned from Xiner that when a page is deleted, all of a user's edits for the page are deleted too. So if your edit count was 100, and you made 25 edits to a page that was deleted, you would only have 75 edits. Whenever you tag a page for deletion, and the pages is deleted, your edit count remains the same. That's the reason that I think you were denied Autowiki AntiVandal. [edit] User:72.248.23.38
Thank you for making a report about 72.248.23.38 (talk · contribs · block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you! TigerShark 20:44, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- To me, it looks like he/she has received two final warnings in the last three days. Am I wrong?

- This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Bill of rights, you will be blocked from editing. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. Your recent vandalism will not be tolerated. The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. semper fictilis 20:20, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- This is the only warning you will receive.

- As far as I can see that is one final warning a week ago (which is too long ago to be considered recent) and then a final warning (issued by you) at 20:20 today. The problem is that their last edit is at 20:13 today. It would therefore seem that you gave them a final warning (quite correctly), but then reported them at AIV without any further vandalism occuring. TigerShark 21:00, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Yo!
Wassup? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 21:46, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi! I made a simply awesome userbox! Try it out: .
- For the Color parameter, choose Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, or Purple (it is case sensitive). For the user, just put the user's name, like Cremepuff222 or Theunicyclegirl. Enjoy! --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 02:28, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Hello! I know that this adoption hasn't lasted very long, but I just graduated from Xiner's teachings. So, if it's not a problem with you, do you think that we could end ours too? (don't want to make Xiner feel bad ;) ) --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 01:20, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well, it's not that you haven't taught me all that you can. For me, it's become a much easier task to find information myself. I've now been on Wkiipedia long enough to know where I can find information and it makes things a lot easier when it comes to finding what I want. You know what I mean? I'll still ask you questions if I have one, though. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:23, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
See ya around! --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 21:52, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Cool! Thanks for the hat! --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 21:57, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Go right ahead! I thought it would be a good idea too, but alas, I've only had one review since then. The link in my signature seems to attract many reviewers, so you may want to try that! --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:04, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Centering a userbox
Are you trying to center it in the userbox template, or center a userbox on your user page? Btw, a link in your signature to your talk page would be greatly appreciated. :) Xiner (talk, email) 23:16, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- There's no reason to center a userbox within its own template, because the userbox is the template. If you want to center a userbox on another page, then you can use the HTML center tags. If you want to become an admin, you'll want to move your userboxes to a separate page. :)
- As for signatures, they are wiki code just like any other. Simply copy a signature you like, edit it to make it your own, then paste it into your preferences. Make sure to check the box that says "Raw signature". Xiner (talk, email) 22:23, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Signatures
Just go to your preferences and check the raw signature box. Then, in your signature, format it like any other link. My signature is <span style="font-family: Monotype Corsiva; font-size: 12pt"><font color="008000">--Cremepuff222</font> (<font color="2F4F4F">talk</font>, <font color="2F4F4F">review me!</font>) </span>, but you can do whatever you want. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:20, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, yes. Check the raw signature box. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:24, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh, wait! I already said that! (I'm out of my mind...) XD --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:26, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Cool! Watermelon is my favorite fruit too! --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:30, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yepperz, I have. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 23:43, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
