[edit] Welcome

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! --Phroziac (talk) 16:32, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image:No Need for Bushido, Title.jpg

Hi, did you get permission to release this image under the GFDL, or is it mis-tagged? If it's simply copyrighted to them, we can use it under fair use. Please respond on my talk page. --Phroziac (talk) 16:42, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

No, you didn't. GFDL is a license that he could release the image under, and it would be OK to use it for anything, including making images based on it and selling it, but requiring anyone who uses it to give him credit for it, and stuff. You may want to see Wikipedia:Copyrights. I'll contact the author and see what he says, it won't hurt to leave it mistagged for a few days. --Phroziac (talk) 17:31, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Choisms

Hi, I redirected Choisms to No Need for Bushido. Since there's no article about the character, having an article about things he said seems unneccessary. However I saved the content in your sandbox, at User:The_palantir/Sandbox so that it wouldn't be lost. When starting new topics, it's generally best to get plenty of information in the main article before splitting out into sub articles. They're less likely to be deleted this way, and they provide better context for readers unfamiliar with the subject.

Also important are the WP:V and WP:NOR policies. Information about other people using Choisms, for example, isn't really appropriate for an article if it's based on your own experiences. In Wikipedia terms, it's called original research and is not supposed to be included in articles. Hope this helps, and thanks for contributing. Friday (talk) 18:06, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

PS. No offense is intended by the Afd, it's not a judgement on the subject, it's meant to help determine whether it belongs in an encyclopedia. Whether it gets deleted or not, there's no harm or shame in a good faith contribution to the project. Hope you stick around. Friday (talk) 18:11, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Advice

Since you asked for it.. :)

The links in the welcome message above are a great place to start. Don't get discouraged, new contributors make lots of mistakes and they're generally no big deal. If you edit your user page, the link won't show up in red anymore, and you'll look like less of a newbie. I think you were asking about my sig.. You can set it with the "preferences" link, but it's called "Nickname". I set mine to "Friday]] [[User_talk:Friday|(talk)" to make the signature I currently have. Hope this helps.
