Thomaso Mitzek (AFD)

I nominated Thomaso Mitzek for AFD. Thank you for your work on trying to verify it. Discussion on the nomination is at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thomaso Mitzek. RJFJR 00:36, September 3, 2005 (UTC)

Afd nominations

Thank you for your efforts to keep nonsense, self promotion, and the like off of Wikipedia. However, I must ask you to please read Wikipedia:Articles for deletion#How to list pages for deletion before making any more afd nominations. Since you've been missing step III, nobody's been seeing your nominations for days or weeks except by chance, so someone has to find them on Category:Pages for deletion and list them for you (which is a very time-consuming process). This also causes the articles you're trying to get deleted to stay in Wikipedia for a much longer time than they otherwise would. —Cryptic (talk) 16:33, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

at what point does he cross from clueless newbie to outright vandal? there've been numerous postings on his talk page, and like 8 bajillion reverts by the both of us, and all he does is clean his talk page and re-vandalise. when do you think its a real problem?jfg284

  • (presumably you're my colleague-in-arms jfg284!) I think it's a problem now. Looks like some others are having a word too... Maybe blocking will be the only answer... Keep up the good fight! Budgiekiller 18:17, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

Similar approaches

Sounds like a plan, though I won't be editing tonight for much longer - believe it or not, I do it to relieve stress :). Generally I go to RC, hide logged in users and pick "obvious" targets, and then keep following the user history. Any suggestions as to how best to manage ourselves in future welcome! Stephenb (Talk) 19:27, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

I can believe it! I spent a good few hours chasing and fighting adolescent Americans intent on slagging each other off, and it seems like the right and proper thing to do. It's an interesting problem, trying not to rework stuff that's already being looked at. I'm aiming to kill the "obvious" targets ASAP, which I guess you are too, but then a lot of the time we end up rv'ing the same stuff. I'll have a think about the best approach to this and maybe we can strategise! Have a good evening. Budgiekiller 19:33, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

Football

Hadn't looked for the draw yet. I'm thrilled we finally made it after getting so close in 1973 and 1989 (we only get a good shot every 16 years, it would appear). My hope is that we make it through with dignity, and maybe pick up a point or two (not likely, but one can dream).

With regards to your travelling template - you have the order reversed - I stole it from Cool Cat. Guettarda 22:28, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Re: Maoririder article

Because he was the subject of a recent RFAr. Peaches and Creme is a valid topic for an article, it's a popular food flavor, anyway. His mentors need to decide what to do with it. Luigi30 (Ταλκ) 22:11, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

Human chromosome articles

Hi, you might be interested to know that all the articles about the human chromosomes are finished now: --WS 17:52, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

Dig it. I'd looked earlier on and seen that you'd linked them over to the Chromosome page as well, nice work! Budgiekiller 17:56, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

Yank (physics)

Hey, I see you've removed my speedy delete tag. Can you or the author of the article substantiate that this exists outside of the 1996 reference that is mentioned? I thought that we were encouraged to reference our sources? I don't see much of that going on here... I think that either the whole article needs rewriting to include the fact that the terminology is purely anecdotal or removing. I guess it should go to Afd... (you're the Admin, you say it's legit, can you tell me why?) Budgiekiller 23:06, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

Well, on second though it does seem like it should be deleted. But it is not covered by any of the CSD criteria, so I would say it should go through afd. Thue | talk 23:08, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
Well funny you should say that, I was just midway through leaving you the same sentiments. I'll Afd it. No doubt all the physics guys will come out of the woodwork and prove me wrong, but good for them...! I just want more credibility for the article before it should be accepted! Thanks for your time. Budgiekiller 23:12, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
It's done, let the spittle-mongering commence! Budgiekiller 23:17, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

Maoririder

hey bud want to help?? Maoririder 16:52, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

Hey Maoririder, I thought I already have been! What can I do for you? Budgiekiller 16:54, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

please check out my contribs.. see what ya can do thanks alot Maoririder 16:57, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do. Glad to see that you've been trying to add a reasonable stub definition to your new articles, keep it up! Budgiekiller 17:01, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

\hey man nice pics you want to help me?? Maoririder 20:34, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

Hey, I'm trying to help clean up some of your articles. Sometimes we're going to have to delete some of the articles you start because they're not suitable, but if you try to add stubs and keep your articles with a neutral point of view then they'll be more likely to stay! Budgiekiller 20:36, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

HELP THIS SEXY WOMAN Jayla

Ok, I've redirected your new page to America's Next Top Model because that's the closest reference, and her full name (Jayla Rubinelli) is cited there. The best thing you can do now is to edit this page and place the link marks around Jayla's name (i.e. by putting two ['s before and two ]'s after her name) and then creating the article from there. Add a good stub suggestion, and you're half way to a good, linked article! Budgiekiller 20:46, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

Re Maoririder

Usually, I just try to check his contributions, try to salvage what I can, and explain to him why I can't justify keeping some of the other stuff. He's been instructed to try to only create articles with at least 3 good sentences, and try to stub-type, but he often seems to get frustrated and go back to his old ways. Feel free to contribute in any way you think might help - Lucky and I have been working with him for a while and not gotten a lot of growth. (ESkog)(Talk) 21:17, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

Why...?

Why on earth were you looking up Bod? Was it Bod (series) or one of the other ones? I added the offical site to the external links at the TV one. I've got the video of all the programmes, which is weird to see if you haven't seen them for 20 years. --bodnotbod 22:18, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Well, always good to meet another Bod fan (extends arm for handshake). My favourite one is where all the characters throw an apple in the air, and Bod's never comes down. --bodnotbod 00:12, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Re Nopminals

I do not understand, are you saying that there is no difference between US and international nominals in Wikipedia on the printed screen?? That is manifestly untrue, as I have seen both.

I really do not understand. 24.136.99.194 21:41, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

Anwar saadat

What on earth are you up to at User talk:Anwar saadat? It's the guy's own talk page, he can delete what he likes! And he's a newbie who's had a grotty first experience (it was right that his edits got removed, but yer have to feel for the guy - 90-odd pages). Please respect his edits to his own page – and show him how to archive? I'll help him revert your edit anyway, and explain good practice on talk pages, but it would be better if it came from you – I don't want to get into an edit war on someone else's talk page... Sorry to sound harsh, but honestly! JackyR 20:25, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Completely 100% right. Sorry everyone. Budgiekiller 23:55, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Is that a good or bad emoticon? I refuse to understand this mode of communication!!! (And it's late...!) Budgiekiller 00:05, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
It's supposed to be a cheesy grin. And what are you doing on WP at this time of a Sat night, you sad, sad, person... (you'll have to imagine the emoticon for that one!) JackyR 00:11, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
Well ditto to you. I will be shutting down immediately, especially now you've mentioned cheese - mmm, hungry. I'll do my best with Anwar, I definitely acknowledge that editing (virtually) billions of pages to add mathematical (original) research was perhaps a bad, but ultimately benign, move, and will strive to assist Anwar in the future. Humble, late and unreserved apologies to everyone... Budgiekiller 00:16, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

Bowling facts

Hi , thanks for that. I would be happy to cite facts but I honestly don't know how the format should be on the article. Can you help? This research was conducted by AMF (http://www.amfbowlingworldcup.com/wc2005_fastfacts.asp) but has also been back-ed up by independment research (I will once again find the links) but if you can show me how to do this properly with the AMF data I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fjorn (talkcontribs).

Nope

It wasn't me that awarded the barnstar to which you refer....although it seems that the account in question has been deleted. Kukini 17:28, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I didn't think so. You're not alone, the user in question seems have trawled various user pages and 'borrowed' (stolen) a few barnstars here and there. Just thought you ought to know, but another few users/admins etc have been involved so I'm not entirely surprised the account has been deleted. Budgiekiller 17:31, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Template

Hey, saw that you edited the Template:Bowling and removed the perfect game. Fair enough, I changed the title from Misc to Tournaments, seemed more appropriate. However, it has become clear that this template is now more about ten-pin bowling than all the other varients mentioned and I was wondering if you thought it more appropriate for us to create a new template for ten-pin only, and revert the bowling template back a few versions so that it just deals with the variants of bowling. What do you reckon? Budgiekiller 19:07, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your message. I didn't delete the perfect game link, I moved it up, seemed more appropriate where I put it. However, you are right about it being more about Ten-pin. Yes, I thjink it would be a good idea for another category for Bowling and one for Tenpin - they have two different extensive articles aswell - I think this would be a benefit and do Wikipedia more justice. I'll let you create it as to be honest I am quite new and don't want to mess anything up. Thanks for your help! Thanks for editing/renaming certain bits of the category, it looks better but like you suggest we need different ones for Bowling and Tenpin. Great to have you onboard! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fjorn (talkcontribs).
No problem, I'll get round to it when possible. Hopefully tomorrow. It's late now and I'm hoping for a curry! Glad to be of service to you. Budgiekiller 19:16, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
One (minor) thing, try to remember to sign each of your comments with ~~~~ (that's four 'tilda's in a row) which will add your user name and the date/time of the comment. Budgiekiller 19:19, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Hey, added the new template and amended the old bowling one. Let me know what you think. I think we could add more to the Ten pin template, e.g. splits, famous bowlers, films etc. One last (admin) thing, some people prefer to keep their comments, good or bad, in an archive rather than deleting it (which I think you've done with some of the unlicenced image uploads). I'd be more than happy to help you add a page for archiving such comments. As always, if you'd like me to help, please leave a message on my discussion page. Keep up the good work with ten-pin. What's your top score, by the way?! Budgiekiller 22:36, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
No problem, believe me you are of great service and what's more happy to help - If I could give you reps I would! As for signing my comments, thanks! Will do it from now on - maybe I should read the rules more, sorry! The new template looks great! As for adding those things then great! I looked into the splits, best players, and movies thing but these are categories so am unsure how to link ot those in the template (can you do it so I can learn?) - I only ask as I have learnt so much from watching your edits so far! Thanks a lot! As for my archive page, then please do tell! LOL. I didn't mean ot get rid of them completely but they are public domain, don't known what else to say???? Anyway, if you can show me how to create anb archive page it would be greatly appreciated! As for my top score, I'll tell you Wednesday, it's my leage night and I fgorsee a change, LOL! I hope you see pro bowling as different to recreational, you seem an intelligent chap. If you have P.O. box or something I'd like to send you a DVD, it's up to you but I woulds be interested in your views. Maybe to your local uni? However, you guysa work sending things (I am new, LOL) Fjorn 12:38, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Although you don't need it, I just wanted to mention as the creator of the bowling template you have my blessing to create to do what you plan. Vicarious 23:16, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Doris Hart - BTBA

Hi,

I see you changed the Doris Hart link. That lady isn't the same one I'm afraid that's why I didn't link to that one. I need to create a new entry for her. Can I change it back and thencreate one? Fjorn 15:31, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Of course you can mate, not a problem. I tried to find her, but failed miserably. Go for it. Budgiekiller 16:11, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for your help, it is much appreciated. I'm happy with the section now. Is it ok for me to delete all the discussion on my user page as well now? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.132.20.247 (talkcontribs).

You can do pretty much what you like on your user page, if you set your own account up (i.e. get a login name rather than an anonymous IP address) you can leave all the current discussions behind. Some people like to keep everything, good or bad, in an archive, I can help here if you'd like to have a go at that, but I understand, given the nature of the discussions, perhaps you'd prefer them deleted. It's your call! Budgiekiller 06:03, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Why so few Wikipedians are engineers?

I am trying to understand why there are so few Wikipedians who are graduate engineers. Once I get a grasp on that, perhaps I may be able to formulate some ideas on how to attract more experienced engineers to become Wikipedians. It would be very helpful if you would respond to these a few questions:

  • Are you a university graduate engineer?
  • Please indicate in which of these engineering disciplines you obtained your degree:
    1. Aeronautical or aerospace engineering
    2. Bioengineer or biological engineering
    3. Chemical engineering
    4. Civil engineering
    5. Electrical engineering
    6. Environmental engineering
    7. Mechanical engineering
    8. Petroleum engineering
    9. Other
  • In what year did you obtain your degree?
  • What attracted you to participate in Wikipedia?

If you would rather not answer these questions on your Talk page, then you may respond on my User talk:mbeychok page. Or you may respond to me via Wikipedia's email which I have enabled on my User:mbeychok page.

If you would rather not respond at all, that's fine also. Regards, - mbeychok 04:28, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Reminder...

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.
