[edit] Image:Machinenpistole 18.jpg

You marked this image as PD, and provided a source. However I looked at the source and could find no evidecne of a release to the public domain. Could you provide further evidence of a release to the public domain. Thanks Zeimusu | (Talk page) 09:21, August 12, 2005 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the message on my user talk page. first again welcome to the wikipedia, and I hope you are having fun. And thanks for your contributions.
Let me just say that you are doing a lot of things right: you have given the source and tagged the image. But yes this image is probabaly only allowed under fair use. But before you go tag it, please go and flip through fair use and Wikipedia:fair use. The US law of fair use is a bit of a nightmare. It is worth reading up on it before you get yourself and the project into trouble.
If you want to do the right thing, you should ask for a GFDL release. The source website is in Japan, that might be a problem. See Wikipedia:Boilerplate request for permission for some example requests in English.
Then tag the image as fair use Also you can link to the image source and the top of the site providing the image. Of course if you get the GFDL release you can change the tag latter.
Really, thanks for taking the time to do all this. It is much appreciated.

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Machinenpistole 18.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a free image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 22:30, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Geki SF.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Geki SF.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
