[edit] Banner sportslogos.net.gif removed from your user page

An image or media file, Image:Banner sportslogos.net.gif, has been removed from your userpage or user talk page because it was licensed as fair use. Wikipedia's fair use policy states that fair use images should only be used in the article namespace. As a result, although users are often given a great amount of latitude in the type of content that is allowed on their user pages, it is requested that you abide by this policy. Feel free, however, to add images and media files licensed under other terms. For more information, see Wikipedia's fair use policy and an accompanying essay on the removal of fair use images. Thank you for your cooperation.

Zzyzx11 (Talk) 18:41, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

I added it only because it's the banner from the site that every image I upload comes from. That's a message, I'm not advertising (unless it comes way inadvertent) I'm telling every where the image will be uploaded Sportslogos.net 02:30, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Bucs 4.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Bucs 4.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 04:05, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your username

Are you in fact Chris Creamer, or associated with Chris Creamer Properties, Inc. or his Sportslogos.net website? If not, your username is not a good idea because it may be blocked by another administrator who may cite one of the following items on Wikipedia's crtieria of inappropriate usernames:

  • "Accounts with usernames that advertise a particular website, company, etc. (e.g. "visit [name of url]" ) are discouraged and may be blocked."
  • "Trademarked names ... should not be used in a username."

The larger problem is that your username should never be confusing or misleading in such a way that it may lend your edits a false authority. Thus if you are in no way affiliated with Creamer or his website, I recommend that you change your username at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 08:56, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rename

As requested, I have renamed you as User:TheSportsLogosMaster. You may now like to move your userpages to the new name. Warofdreams talk 01:50, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image deletion warning

I am afraid I have nominated the files from your user page for deletion. They are not being used in any articles (and apparently more suitable files have already been uploaded for use in the articles about the sports teams), and fair use images shouldn't be used on user pages. (Wikipedia is not an image gallery.) For more details, please see Wikipedia:Fair use and Wikipedia:Image use policy. Thank you. - Mike Rosoft 10:56, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Giants 4.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Giants 4.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Logo reduction

No. You say "this is our requirement". Where is that stated? No logo on an article is likely being used in a larger format than 300px wide. If it is, it's likely interfering with the article. Also, 72x72 px/inch is more than enough for web resolution, and anything greater, especially at 300x300, is giving people print quality. I've proposed a change the the fair use policy at [1] with this 300px width limit and 72x72 px/inch limit as well. --MECUtalk 16:36, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:ColumbusDestroyers.png

Thanks for uploading Image:ColumbusDestroyers.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Multiple accounts

You appear to have more than one account and to be using them both. This is not allowed on Wikipedia (See Wikipedia:Username and Wikipedia:Sock puppetry). Please choose one account and stop using the other account. You could put redirects from the account you no longer wish to use to the account you will continue to use. I saw this because you used one account to add another to the list of active participants at WP:CFB, see [2]. Thank you for understanding and your cooperation. MECUtalk 13:02, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, I find it odd but as long as you continue to identify the accounts as all belonging to you and don't do anything bad with them you are free to do so. It may be better for you to use just one account, since then any messages left for you will be more immediately received and you can take action upon them, rather than an account could go unused for days and you miss a message. Thanks for the reply. --MECUtalk 15:59, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
