Broken Manika are a Welsh punk rock band based in Cardiff who perform in a political anti-American fashion. The band was formed in 2002, consisting of Nick Bailey (bass), Isaac Babooshka Rocket (lead vocals and guitar), Niro James (lead guitar and vocals), and The Yes (drums).

[edit] History

After meeting at a Manic Street Preachers signing in January 2003, Tarro and Niro became friends and Tarro joined the Stab in Murderous Rage as drummer, consisting of jsut Isaac and Niro at the time. In March that year Nick joined the band, and they changed their name to Broken Dolls, and Nick and Niro went on to become lovers. Towards the end of 2003, Sony got in contact with the band and reported that the name Broken Dolls was already taken by an up-and-coming band, so after enterring Broken Dolls on an Internet translation site, they came up with Broken Manika (manika being the Tagalog translation given for dolls), after deciding against the French poupées cassées and Italian rotto bombola.

Isaac left the band in August 2005, and the band has continued as a 3-piece. In January 2006 Tarro left the band, causing the band to cease to exist.
