Theandra's real name is Kerry Varcoe. There are many roles and aspects to Kerry's identity but most salient for Wikpedia is the role/identity of field linguist in the Babar Islands, West Southwest Maluku province, Indonesia. Kerry graduated with an MA Applied Linguistics from Charles Darwin University in 2000. Since then Kerry has lived in Indonesia, learning standard(ized) Indonesian and involved in sociolinguistic survey of the Babar Islands.

Kerry's research paradigm is eclectic, syncretizing aspects of postcolonialism, symbolic interactionism and a moderate (anthropological) post-structuralism. Kerry finds cultural studies' perspectives on ideology and hegemony also at times useful in particular contexts.

Kerry is a native speaker of Western Canadian Anglo-English.

Kerry has lived in the main town of Tepa on the west coast of Babar island and in the sub-regional capitol Saumlaki in the Tanimbar islands, for nearly 2 years. Kerry has visted each island in the Babar Islands and interviewed many of the local inhabitants on each island, in Tepa and in Saumlaki.
