The 2002 re-release of These Open Fields. |
These Open Fields is the second official full-length release from Chicago IDM artist The Flashbulb. The album displays a significant maturation from the first release, M³. This is most likely due to the fact that the album has a centralized theme, unlike the playful experimentation of M³. Its dark, evocative tone is drawn from its being inspired by the death of Jordan's grandfather, who played a very important role in his life, and his subsequent dealing with his loss through composition.
This was the unofficial first release on Jordan's struggling new upstart label Alphabasic.

[edit] Re-release
These Open Fields (second edition) adds Taste My Solitude (Longhair Mix) 2:44 to the end of the album. It is interesting to note that, concurrent with what was being worked on at its September 2002 release time, this song features the use of sitar, as in Resent and the April Sunshine Shed.
