[edit] REVIEW OF Therion Confidential - on RAW42
"This band has got it all. Fabulous, speedy and intelligent music, professional mixes, and a beautiful babe too. please write me. I want your sign. superlatives are not enough to describe this experience. axa took me on a trip, and i desperately need a cigarette to recover. wow.
CAIRO starts out with very middle eastern sounding instruments, hence the title... great vocals and fabulous guitars coming in (slightly too soft though)... the vocals are insanely professional (i absolutely dig that rolling rrrrrr), and they hit my weakest spot because they have great delays. i absolutely love delays. no, this song got my intention immediately, i didn't even have to listen intensely to appreciate this music. it goes into your ears and you start moonwalking and bodypopping immediately. professionally mixed, this is the perfect track for the eurovision festival. is this progressive electronica, like the band states? definitely not - this is intelligent eurobeat with strong influences from symphonic rock. but it rocks big time. extremely catchy, very detailed and many instruments with some electronic influences. this song is great, absolutely fabulous! radio friendly, and certainly a candidate for the top 40. does good commercial music exist? axa proves it does. while maintaining extreme catchiness, they decorate the song continuously with the most varied patterns and riffs you can imagine, which are altered and changed with such an insanely rapid speed that you hear surprise after surprise. outstanding job. the guitars could use some more power and volume. it's not pure electronica, but we'll add this one to our list of highly recommended songs anyway. well worth the listen! add me to your fan list right away please. lalalalalala...
Once more, in BUDI BEZ SNA (whatever it means) we hear a great intro with electric pianos, distorted guitars, orchestra hits and rolling snares. and there come those wonderful vocals again... joined by great timpanis, what power! what an energy! most eurobeat sounds cheesy and cheap, but this band has clearly overcome that problem. bambambam, there go those timpanies again, this band has got me singing all along! at 2:34 we hear the oh so necessary intermezzo, with transposed chords that ascend once more into the extremely catchy refrain. counter-melodies played by synths, and then, yeah, a transpose upwards, followed up by even more varied chords and guitar, which lead this song to the finish in a grand way. this group know how to write songs. it wouldn't surprise me if they conquer bosnian airwaves real soon (if they haven't already).
This band was so good that i decided to download a third song, desperately trying to find a weak spot. after all, this is a critique, not fan mail right? DIVLJA RUZA leans heavily towards heavy metal, but there's the axa touch of symphonic eurobeat again. far less catchy than the other two songs, i'm finally satisfied. but hey, wait, once we get in the middle... oh no, i'm beginning to dig this song after all! it gets better and better. the guitars scream and cry, taking you away on a trip to higher levels. we finish with an extremely funky slap bass solo and wham! finish.

[edit] SOUNDTRACK FOR FILM "ESCAPING OTIS" [10]
Bosnia pop-rock group made a soundtrack for movie "Escaping Otis". It is American movie in independent production, of director Kyle Stafford. The theme of the movie is relationship between few friends who are gamblers, and they trying to find the way to get out of the debts. The movie is made in California, where the major actor works in road cafe with paranoid boss. The way of the filming and major theme is similar to the films of the Jim Jarmus, from large prairie views, till, on the moment, relevant dialogs who on the end get their sense for the understanding of story. Movie is characteristic by the American black humour, with some brilliant moments in focusing of the characters and their psychology. Music, which Axa made, took a big part in the movie. It was mostly in the moments of the rushing of car throe dusty roads of small Californian City. If we compare some of the soundtracks of the another movies, it is bigger from soundtrack for the movie "Terminator II", or "Angry Again" made by the Megadeth made for the "The Last Action Hero". After double soundtrack "Axa" shall sonly go on the Sacramento because of eventual signing of contract with directors house "Sunshine" for another two movies, and material for the American market. Finally some of the younger generation of bands succeeded to promote their material on international market. There are no much cases, that one band from B&H came on, this way, on international market. What are theirs possibilities we will se sonly.
