thenewno2 is a band comprised of Dhani Harrison and Oliver Hecks. Harrison plays lead guitar, synthesizer, and vocals. Hecks plays drums and synthesizer. Amanda Butterworth sings female vocals. The name thenewno2 is a reference to a British television show from the 1960s called The Prisoner which was a favourite show of Dhani's father George (the lead guitarist of the popular English rock band The Beatles). Oli Hecks directed the video "Choose What You're Watching". He also took photos for the Genisis published book Concert For George. Thenewno2 have been credited with album design for George Harrison's "Brainwashed", "Concert For George", "The Dark Horse Years Box Set" and "Concert For Bangladesh" DVD.
The band's website, which they designed themselves, features several songs and a video entitled "Choose What You're Watching". The website says the band is "currently rehearsing" and there's "more to come". The Ep is for sale on I tunes and CD Baby. thenewno2 are in the studio recording a full album this spring.

On July 6, 2006, the band's official website stated that thenewno2 would release a 4 track promotional EP. Released on August 28, 2006 in limited promotional copies, EP001 features the tracks "Say", "Out of Mind", "Lord Lord", and "Truly". On September 21, 2006, it was announced in a MySpace bulletin that spare copies of the EP would be available over the next few weeks. A bulletin on YouTube, dated October 26, 2006, apologized for the delay in the release of the EP and the updating of the website, and announced that the EP was then on sale at RecordStore.co.uk. [1]. In February 2007, the EP was released on the iTunes Store. thenewno2 were also credited with the Art direction and photography on George Harrison's posthumous album, Brainwashed.
