Theatre of Sheep
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Theatre of Sheep was a 1980s American New Wave band from Portland, Oregon very popular with Northwest teenagers but virtually ignored by the over-21 crowd. Musically, the band had much in common with stylish New Wave and New Romantic bands of the day such as Duran Duran and Modern English (band) featured on MTV. Notably, their essential 1983 release, A Cathartic Aquacade, was produced and engineered by Greg Sage, leader of the legendary Portland punk band The Wipers.
Some of their music is featured in the documentary film Kurt & Courtney, where they were claimed as an influence on the grunge music scene.
Formed in 1980 they split in 1984 but played several one-off reunion shows throughout the 1990's at Portland area clubs. They were fronted by Rozz Rezabek.
According to a Summer 2006 post on the *Rezabek MySpace page, Rozz Rezabek plans to compile a Theater of Sheep CD compilation containing remixed versions of fan favorites produced by TOS guitarist Jim Haskett.
The classic lineup:
Rozz Rezabek-Wright: Vocals Lesli Arbuthnot: Keyboards Jim Wallace: Bass Jimi Haskett: Guitar Brian Wassman: Drums
