The Writer's Almanac is a daily radio and on-line program of poetry and historical items, usually of literary significance. It is hosted by Garrison Keillor, is produced and distributed by Minnesota Public Radio's American Public Media, and is supported by The Poetry Foundation, publisher of Poetry Magazine. Each program is about five minutes long, begins with vignettes about authors and some others whose birthdays coincide with the date of the particular program, continues with a poem chosen by Keillor, and ends with Keillor's traditional personal sign-off, "Be well, do good work, and keep in touch." The program's theme music is a version of the Swedish song "Ge mig en dag", performed by Richard Dworsky on the piano.[1]
