The World of the Talisman (aka, Planetbusters, Birth) is an anime movie which was dubbed by Harmony Gold USA in 1987, produced originally in Japan in 1984 It was later re-dubbed by Streamline Pictures and ADV Films. It talks about Rasa and Talin, brother and sister and heirs to a planetary kingdom who embark on a voyage of personal discovery. They have found their way to a mythical planet which legend describes as the homeworld of the Gods. They have embarked on this journey to discover their true path in life. What they find is a planet that can be best described as one giant booby trap. Soon they find themselves the target of a massive manhunt for the prize of their inheritance. On their way they also encounter a cosmic sword in which great power lie within.
The World of the Talisman is an adventure filled with humor and a wild, breathtaking sense of the magical and the absurd. The english dubs for this movie differ in plot, story, events and soundtrack compared with the later dubs that used all the original japanese material. The dubbing is wonderful and hilarious, approximatly 81 minutes of pure enjoyment and laughter. must see to anime lovers especially because it was one of the earliest english anime dubs, another important point is that it was Written & Directed By Carl Macek & Greg Snegoff. This movie version was only released on Video, you may find it available on ebay every now and then.
