The World Famous Pontani Sisters are a burlesque review in New York City, beginning in the 1990s swing era and leading the burlesque movement on the East Coast and throughout the United States. The brainchild of performer/costume designer/choreographer Angie Pontani, the group began as a side act of the popular swing band The Flying Neutrinos. Angie, a veteran of the Dutch Weisman Follies, had envisioned a return to the 1940s and 1950s vision of American glamor initiated on Broadway and emblazoned in Hollywood films for almost her entire life. The opportunity to bring this vision to the masses was a happy coincidence of public interest meeting trends of the past. The sisters have toured Europe and the United States, often with Los Straitjackets, and a documentary film made about their work, Showy and Five Foot Two, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004. The Sisters have 2 DVD releases, Go-Go Robics I & Go Go Robics II.
