The Wetlands Preserve

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wetlands Preserve was a live music venue in Tribeca, New York City that closed 2001. The club was located on Hudson and Laight St. near the Holland Tunnel. Founded by Larry Bloch on Valentine's Day in 1989, the club was a center for environmental activists. The last show was performed on September 10, 2001 (which featured DJ Logic, Warren Haynes, and Mike Gordon of Phish).

Many famous acts in the jam band scene have played The Wetlands and the venue was often the first venue that major bands such as Pearl Jam and Rage Against the Machine ever played in New York. Before its closing in 2001, Robert Randolph recorded and released a live album from the Wetlands.
