[edit] Synopsis

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Piper is forced to cater a wedding that her boss had signed up for, before he disappeared. And to make things more interesting, the bride is Hecate, a powerful demon goddess. Hecate has forced a woman to give over her son for marriage, so that they can conceive a demon child. The sisters must find a way to stop the marriage and the demonic bridesmaids.

[edit] Enemies

  • Hecate: A demon who comes to Earth every two hundred years. She has to find an innocent, put him under her spell, and marry him in a sanctified wedding. She needs an innocent to impregnate her, so that her child would look normal on the outside, but internally and mentally, her child would be pure demon. She and her followers eat human flesh and can change into their "true" identity.

[edit] Spells

  • To Summon a Storm: Cast by Jade D'mon, Hecate's human form, the spell created a storm at the wedding: By Asteria and Perces, open sky and do your worst.

[edit] Artifacts

  • Fertility Icon: A Lassa Warrior fertility goddess. Very rare and very powerful. The tribe believed that its mere presence would help a woman conceive.
  • Poingnard: Fourteenth century Italian jeweled long-knife. Engraved with the words Nec prius absistit quoad protero prodigium, which is Latin for I shall not rest until the demon is vanquished. The only weapon with which Hecate can be trapped in, it also seems able to vanquish her demonkind.

[edit] Trivia

  • This episode contains the first hint that Rex and Hannah might not be what they seem (unless you count I've Got You Under My Skin, in which Hannah can tell that Prue is a witch. "I think she's either the luckiest woman alive, or she's a witch!")
  • Jade's last name was D'mon, which is very close to 'demon'.
  • In modern times, Hecate has become popular in Paganism and Wicca, largely due to her association as the goddess of sorcery.
  • This was the first episode to show that Prue knows how to speak Latin.
  • Hecate calls on the powers of Asteria and Perses in this episode. According to Greek mythology, these are her parents.
  • An apparent inconsistency is that the demon baby is supposed to look just like a human baby, but appears monstrous in Phoebe's premonition of its birth. It seems that Phoebe saw its true essence in her premonition instead of its outward appearance.
  • Piper learns she has to be in close contact with the object she wants to freeze.
