[edit] Plot summary
Drake and Josh's 89-year-old great aunt is getting married and the family must attend her wedding to show that they care about her, and thus be given her beach house when she dies. Megan and their parents leave early, leaving Drake and Josh to get there by themselves. Before Drake and Josh can leave, Craig and Eric stop by to borrow Josh's laptop. Josh is upstairs, and Drake tries to get them out of the house as fast as possible, so he just tells them to take Josh's backpack. Josh comes downstairs after Craig and Eric leave, and tells Drake that along with his laptop, his backpack also contained his cellphone and the keys to their parents car. This leaves them with no way to get to the wedding, so Drake suggests that they call Trevor and ask to borrow his car, which turns out to be an 1970s El Camino that isn't in very good shape.
On the way there, the car breaks down on a small dirt road. While trying to fix the car, Josh's jacket gets sucked into the car and ripped into shreds. They decide they can't fix the car themselves and go looking for a place to pee. While they're gone, two cops come by and give them a ticket, but the cops are gone when they get back to the car. Eventually, another car drives by them, stops, and two men get out. Drake and Josh explain their situation to the men, and offer them money if they help. However, when they get out their wallets to check their money, the men push them down, steal their wallets, and drive off. After looking in the back of the car, they find an emergency kit, but it only contains a quarter, an open can of salmon, an ice tray, and half a shoe.
Soon after, a man named Leslie comes by in a tow truck and offers to help them. While Josh is looking in the car for its vehicle registration, Drake jokes with Leslie about his name and tells him that he's dated five girls named Leslie. This insults him, so he tells them to "rot in a sack" and leaves them on their own.
They try to fix the car again by connecting two wires under the hood. They start the car and it runs, but in a few seconds the engine goes up in flames and spreads throughout the rest of the car. Drake and Josh are shocked and slowly walk away, leaving the car burning.
[edit] Significance
This episode does not have a subplot. Because of this, the episode has only two sets. Except for a short scene in Drake and Josh's living room at the beginning of the episode, the entire episode takes place on a road in an unknown area.
[edit] Trivia
- This was reviewed as one of the worst episodes in the series. Almost everything in this episode is negative (Josh losing his laptop, phone and car keys, Drake and Josh being robbed, the car up in flames, the fact Drake and Josh are stranded, etc.) and was hated by a lot of big Drake and Josh fans.
- In this episode, Drake said he broke cell phone from seeing if it would float in a bowl of soup, but in the episode "Vicious Tiberius" Drake broke his phone while runing away from Tiberius. He may have purchased and broken another cellphone in the time between episodes, though.
- This is one of the few episodes of Drake & Josh which refers to an event from a previous episode. Josh refers to Papa Nichols destroying Eric's cell phone.
- In the episode "Movie Job", Drake dosen't seem to like Ketchup hot dogs, In this episode, he is seen about to put ketchup on a hot dog.
- We never actually know if Drake and Josh made it to the wedding, or if they get the beach house. They may have gotten there, but they probably didn't get the beach house because the cake went up in flames at the end.
- E.E. Bell, who plays Leslie, the tow truck driver, played Barney on The Amanda Show, which also starred Drake Bell, Josh Peck, and Nancy Sullivan.
- After Drake drops a rock on Josh's foot, Josh says that his foot is broken. Seconds later, Josh is walking fine and the rock has disappeared. He could have been exaggerating and possibly kicked the rock away.
- Audrey and Megan only appear in the beginning and Walter does not appear at all in this episode (he is yelled at for being impatient though).
- This is the second episode to feature (two) criminals.
- It's a shocker that Drake & Josh didn't grab the wedding cake before it blew up in flames.
- One of the robbers plays Chad, Mindy's cousin in Eric Punches Drake
- After the tow truck driver, Leslie, breaks the driver's side window so the boys can try to start the car again, Josh jumps right in the car onto the seat and presumably, onto the broken glass yet doesn't even flinch or get cut.
- Right after the tow truck driver breaks the window Josh doesn't unlock the door so he open it, he just opens it and its already unlocked.
