The Way of the Master television show is one of the media ministries of The Way of the Master, an evangelical Christian organization. First debuted in December 2003, it is hosted by evangelist and author Ray Comfort, alongside actor Kirk Cameron. It is a half-hour program which involves Christian evangelism, through teaching segments and actual examples of their style of evangelism done in a "man-on-the-street" interview format.

According to their Web site as of May 2006, the series airs on fifteen Christian networks around the world, the most prominent of which is the Trinity Broadcasting Network. The television series has three main portions, sprinkled about throughout the program:

  • The main teaching, in which Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort are in various locales teaching about sharing the gospel. Such backgrounds include:
    • Alcatraz Island
    • the Golden Gate Bridge
    • the New York skyline
    • New York's Grand Central Station
    • a Las Vegas casino
  • Clips of Ray, Kirk, and others interviewing and sharing the gospel with non-Christians, using the method described above.
  • Various "filler" segments, such as:
    • "Questions & Objections", with Kirk and Ray answering some common questions and objections to Christianity.
    • "Reality Break", with Kirk and Ray providing commentary in a car, followed by showing them witnessing.
    • "Wake Up Call", to motivate Christians to evangelize.

The National Religious Broadcasters association awarded The Way of the Master the "People's Choice Award" for 2004 and 2005, and their "Best Program Award" in 2005 and 2006 in the television category. [1][2]

[edit] Season 2 episodes

1. God's Wonderful Plan

Ray and Kirk open the show standing in front of the spectacular New York skyline. They point out the gaping hole once occupied by the World Trade Center towers, and use it as an illustration of the emptiness of the "Feel Good Gospel" wherein a Christian explains to a non-believer that they should become a Christian because God has a wonderful plane for their life. Asks Comfort, "If you had a chance to speak to the victims of the September 11 attacks, and you knew they would die a fiery death, would you tell them God has a wonderful plan for their lives?"

2. Conscience

3. Alcatraz, Al Capone, Alcohol

Ray and Kirk walk through the famous Alcatraz prison, and talk about the horrors of being stuck inside a prison of sin.

4. True and False Conversion

5. When Things Go Wrong

Ray and Kirk open the show in a boxing ring, and talk about what happens "when things to wrong." This unique video features clips of people who Ray, Kirk or other evangelists have targeted to share the Gospel with, and who have reacted angrily. The persecution videos include Ray Comfort literally being spat on by a bystander in Israel, a transvestite physically attacking an assistant, and Ray walking in on a drug transaction gone wrong.

6. The Satanic Influence

Ray and Kirk are siting in an alley with a barrel fire burning behind them, discussing the Satanic influences on rock music. There are various videos of rock and heavy metal singers, including Ozzy Osbourne's song about Aleister Crowley, and Marilyn Manson's swearing off of Christians. (Manson is a minister in the Church of Satan.)
