The Waiting is horror/thriller produced by Wes Craven. Although Alexandre Aja, the director of The Hills Have Eyes, was previously attached to direct, Aja's involvement is in question. In the past, Aja said this about "The Waiting" -- "It's much more psychological and supernatural than our previous films" and compared this film to Don't Look Now and The Vanishing.[1]. But Filmtracker no longer lists him as director.

[edit] Cast

In 2005 Aja told FilmFocus, "We're in the middle of casting right now, but it really depends on the casting at this point as to whether it's going to happen. We'll know in a week or two for definite."[1] As of February 2007, no cast had been set.

[edit] Plot

A young couple lose their child in a heart breaking way. The mother is having difficulties coming to terms with the loss to the point where she feels that she is dangerously close to a mental collapse. The couple then move from the busy life in New York City into the "perfect quiet suburban home". She takes with her the doll of the child; and it is the sole object she would take. Upon waking the first morning that in their new home, she finds the doll placed out in the hall. The woman had very specifically put the doll on the pillow next to her and later accuses her husband of moving it. Her husband denies the allegations and the woman becomes convinced that her child is trying to reach her. Appearing to others that she is moving towards madness, they attempt to calm her. The couple soon realize, though, that this spirit is real and it is not their child, but one that lived in that very house before.
