The Underminer is a fictional villain in The Incredibles saga who has the appearance and traits of a sort of human mole. His cameo at the end of The Incredibles created a cliffhanger leading in to his appearance in The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer video game. In the film and the game, he is voiced by John Ratzenberger, making his regular Pixar movie appearance. This is Ratzenberger's first villainous—and most minor—Pixar role.

The Underminer, like many elements of the Incredibles' world, appears to be inspired by the Fantastic Four comics. In this case, the Underminer appeared to be inspired by the villain Mole Man.

[edit] The Incredibles

The Underminer first made his appearance at the end of The Incredibles when the Parr family are leaving Dashiell Parr's finished race and the villain, about a block away from them, drills out of the ground with a giant drilling machine and announces in a speaker to the citizens of Metroville, "Behold, the Underminer! I am always beneath you, but nothing is beneath me! I hereby declare war on peace and happiness! Soon, ALL will tremble before me!"

As he monologued, the Parrs eventually dressed up in their Incredibles uniforms and prepared for battle against the villain, thus leading a cliffhanger which made the Underminer's first full appearance in the video game sequel, The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer.
