The Uncertainty Principle is an acoustic rock band from Leicester, UK. The band lists artists such as Damien Rice, Coldplay, Jack Johnson and Turin Brakes as influences on their music. The band is comprised of Steve 'Ezbee' Bawden (vocals & guitar) and Dan Hames (vocals & keyboard). The two met through the Christian Union at the University of Leicester in 2004 and began to write songs together in the university music rooms.

The band are one of a growing breed of independent artists whose music is released exclusively on the Internet (currently, at any case). As part of Leicester's underground music scene, the band is linked to two other bands: Broken and Daylight (the latter of which, Hames is also a member).

The band's acoustic or 'roots' sound provides a platform for them to explore intimate themes such as love and faith in their songs with acoustic guitar, keyboard and vocal harmonies. Though the band is based in Leicester, England, Bawden is from Swansea, Wales and Welsh references and placenames are to be found scattered liberally in the band's lyrics (For example, the Song 'Three Cliffs Bay' was written on, and named after the Swansea beach Three Cliffs Bay).
