The Twilight Zone most commonly refers to the classic Twilight Zone television series of 1959-64 and the type of eerie, ironic dark tale it espoused.
However, the "Twilight Zone" is a phrase that originally referred to:
- The line separating the portion of a planet that is illuminated by sun and that in shadow (in other words, the area between day and night). More officially known as the terminator.
Or sometimes:
- The illuminated areas inside a cave

In 1959 a television series with the phrase as its title began airing regularly. It ran until 1964. It not only popularized the term but became an American icon of sorts and over the years has had numerous related miscellania, including:
- Two revival TV series

- Twilight Zone: The Movie, a 1983 film based on the classic television series and produced by Steven Spielberg
