The Twelve Powers of Man
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Twelve Powers of Man (often now called simply The Twelve Powers for the sake of gender neutrality) is a basic concept in the Unity Church. It was first proposed in a book by the same title by Charles Fillmore, and has since been elucidated upon by other writers, notably Cora Fillmore, Charles Roth, and Catherine Ponder.
The Powers are each related to one of the Twelve Disciples and a location on the body. Later, colors were added.
These are the powers as designated by Fillmore:
Faith (Simon Peter/pineal gland/blue)
Strength--Stability--Steadfastness (Andrew/small of back/spring green)
Wisdom--Judgment (often now referred to as "Discernment") (James, son of Zebedee/solar plexus/yellow)
Regenerating Love (John/pink/back of heart)
Power--Dominion--Mastery (Philip/root of tongue/purple)
The Work of the Imagination in Regeneration (Nathanael Bartholomew/occipital lobe/light blue)
Understanding (Thomas Didymus/right forebrain/gold)
The Will Is the Man (Matthew/left forebrain/silver)
Spiritual Law and Order (James, son of Alphaeus/behind the navel/olive green)
Zeal--Enthusiasm (Simon the Canaanite/medulla oblongata/orange)
Renunciation (often now referred to as "Elimination") (Judas Thaddaeus/lower bowels/russet)
Generative Life (Judas Iscariot/Matthias/generative organs/red)
Fillmore was inspired by the seven chakras, but he discerned a greater number through biblical study, prayer, meditation, and reflection.
