  • 3 January 1993 - Patrick Shields (51) and Diarmuid Shields (20), both Catholic civilians, were shot dead by the Ulster Volunteer Force at their home/shop at Lisnagleer, in thge mistaken belief they were PIRA members (volunteers). Diarmuid Shields' girlfriend, Julie Statham, committed suicide a month later.
