- 31 July 1972 - Kathryn Eakin (9), James McClelland (65), William Temple (16) and David Miller (60), Protestants, and Elizabeth McElhinney (59), Joseph McCloskey (38) Rosemary McLaughlin (51), Joseph Connolly (15) and Arthur Hone (40), Catholics, all civilians, were killed when three Provisional Irish Republican Army car bombs exploded almost simultaneously in Main Street, Claudy. Inadequate warning was given. McLaughlin died on 3 August , Connolly on 8 August and Hone on 12 August 1972. For more details see the Claudy Bombing.
