- 16 May - Kenneth Nelson, a member of the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) was shot dead by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA) in Derryfubble, near Benburb.
1988
- 23 November - Bernard Lavery (67), and his granddaughter, Emma Donnelly (14), both Catholic civilians were killed in a PIRA van bomb attack on Benburb RUC base. Inadequate warning was given.
