The Swiss Family Robinson (1975 TV series)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Swiss Family Robinson was an American-made television series that aired during the 1975-76 season. It was based upon the novel The Swiss Family Robinson and was produced by Irwin Allen. It was directed by Leslie H. Martinson, with second unit director Stan Jolley. Story editing was by William Welch, cinematography by Fred Jackman Jr., original music by Richard LaSalle.

The series starred Martin Milner (formerly of Adam-12) as shipwrecked Carl Robinson and was based fairly closely on the original novel. Helen Hunt co-stars as one of his daughters, making one of her first acting performances.

The same year this series aired, a Canadian-European series also called Swiss Family Robinson was produced. That version starred Chris Wiggins as Robinson and was equally short-lived.

This was the second adaptation of the novel to be produced by Irwin Allen; he had previously conceived and produced the science fiction version, Lost in Space.
