The Sweet Escape Tour is American singer Gwen Stefani's second concert tour, scheduled to take place starting in April 2007 in support of her December 2006 album The Sweet Escape.
Lady Sovereign has recently posted on her MySpace that she will be opening for Gwen. The dates of when she is opening is on her myspace.[1] Akon is also going to open for Gwen Stefani.[2] It was recently announced Gym Class Heroes will open for Gwen while the tour moves on into Australia during the end of the summer.[3]
The first North American leg starts in Las Vegas, Nevada and takes place in outdoor amphitheatres and casinos as well as large scale arenas. Gwen will also tour Australia in late July and finish Early August [4]. Originally, five Australian shows were scheduled but due to high demand, two extra dates were added for Sydney and Melborune. [5] The tour will also Latin America and Asia The European leg was announced in mid-March and will see the tour visit countries including the UK, Germany, Sweden and Holland among many others.[1]
The tour follows her North American-only Harajuku Lovers Tour 2005. Stefani's December 2006 appearance on Saturday Night Live suggests that some of the features of that tour may be present again, including her four Harajuku Girls.
Behind the scenes footage is available at the Verizon Sweet Escape Tour page. Gwen has confirmed that What You Waiting For?, Hollaback Girl, Wind It Up, The Sweet Escape, 4 In The Morning, Early Winter, and Wonderful Life, will all be performed during the show. Gwen also stated in a recent interview that the single Crash had been cut from the setlist.
