Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The Titans are having a game of baseball in the park when Cyborg suddenly freezes and falls to the ground, seemingly unconscious. When he reawakens, he explains to the bewildered Titans that his power cells are dying, and he needs to return to the Tower and recharge them. On his way to the Tower, he encounters a boy with a cybernetic arm who proudly declares to his friend that he is just as Cyborg. Cyborg is not left to answer this as he is alerted by his communicator that the team is in trouble.

The rest of the team have in a junkyard encountered the villain The Amazing Mumbo, a magician with some dangerous tricks up his sleeve. Cyborg refuses to leave the team to fight without him, despite his dying power cells. He equips himself with a huge pack of emergency batteries and joins in the fight, despite Robin's protests. During the fight, his batteries are ruined by Mumbo and his dying powercells finally run out of power, leaving him helplessly paralysed on the ground like a statue. Mumbo escapes, Cyborg is lost without a trace and the Titans believe him to have been taken by Mumbo. They immediately start to pursue him.

Meanwhile, it proves out Cyborg has not been abducted by Mumbo, instead he has been found and recharged by a strange humanoid being calling himself "Fixit", living underground and specialising in repair and construction of robots. At first everything seems completely fine and Cyborg prepares to go back to the surface with his thanks. However, Fixit has no intention of letting Cyborg leaving in his current state, determined to make Cyborg a full robot by removing his human organs and replacing them with robotic parts. A horror strucked Cyborg attempts to flee but is easily stopped by Fixit's creations and held captive until the operation is finished. He also reveals himself to be a cyborg with human organs and his abilities greatly enchanced by robotic technology.

The rest of the team manage to locate Mumbo and pursues him in a wild cat-and-mouse chase, eventually ending with the Titans defeating him by snapping his wand in half, thus regressing him back to his powerless, human form. The Titans learn that he indeed was not Cyborg's kidnapper and realise he is still somewhere on the site of the first showdown between them and Mumbo, where they lost him. When they arrive, they discover the entrance to Fixit's underground lair but is met by a horde of robots under his mind control. Engaged in battle, they are unable to reach Cyborg and aid him. However, as Fixit is about to transfer Cyborg's memories into a robotic brain, he is stunned by the vivid images of the world above resting in Cyborgs mind. He suddenly understands the beauty of the surface and realises how much of it he had forgotten. His mind control over the robots engaging the Titans vanishes, enabling them to reach Cyborg, who manages to free himself loose of Fixit's bonds and offers to help im in turning human again, an offer he apparently accepts while taking his outstrecthed hand, smiling.

The episode ends with Cyborg meeting the boy with the cybernetic arm again, who repeats to his friend that he is exactly as Cyborg. Cyborg agrees, stating that it is not the robotic arm that makes them alike, but what the arm is attached to.
