The Story of Whomps is the 18th episode in Season 2 of the Disney ABC show Recess.

T.J. Detweiler has never sworn in his life. Even in the worst of situations, he prefers to use a substitute of his own invention, "whomp" (a variety of uses, but roughly equivalent to "suck" as in "this sucks"). The word is so well-known as to have spread far beyond T.J.'s friendship circle. But when the headmaster decides that "whomp" is actually a swearword and must be stamped out, T.J. finds himself in big trouble as its creator. Eventually, the incident leads to a ridiculously serious court trial, with witnesses including Miss Grotke's own English teacher. However, when the judge finds out what all the fuss is about, the trial is laughed out of court and T.J. is once again free to use his favourite expression.
