The Star is Pakistan's most widely read evening newspaper. It was founded in 1953, in Karachi, Pakistan.

It is published by the Pakistani Dawn Group of Newspapers, and has gained a reputation for being outspoken and hard-hitting. The current editor of the paper is Kamal Majidulla. The newspaper is usually printed by 1:30pm, and available by about 2:30pm.

The newspaper publishes a supplement on weekends, Star Weekend, which provides details on festivals, exhibitions and the cultural and entertainment scene in Pakistan. It also contains focus reports, targeting affluent Pakistani consumers. The editor of this supplement is Asif Noorani.

Although evening newspapers are no longer very popular in Pakistan, The Star has managed to stay afloat, thanks to a steady and reliable reader base.
