The Sportsman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sportsman was a British daily sports betting newspaper. Launched in March 2006, it was the UK's first new national daily newspaper for 20 years, and claimed to be a one-stop shop for the modern punter, offering news, views and tips on sport, racing and anything else bookmakers give odds on. The paper had been the brainchild of editor-in-chief Charlie Methven. Just seven months after launch, an announcement was made that after suffering a failure in a refinancing bid, it had been decided to stop printing The Sportsman. The publisher had been in administration since July.

Another sports paper of the same name was published from 1865.
