The Spill Canvas is an alternative rock band from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The band's first widespread album, Sunsets And Car Crashes, which was written, produced, and performed by lead singer, Nick Thomas, was released on 111 Records April 20, 2004. Nick Thomas was joined by members Joe Beck, Scott McGuire, and Dan Ludeman shortly after the release of "Sunsets and Car Crashes." The four members collectively wrote their latest album One Fell Swoop which was released on August 9 , 2005. The band will play on the 2007 Warped Tour.

On their official page in late 2006, the band announced a change of label through a news post by member Scott McGuire, "Also, did I mention that there is a new record label in the picture? Thats right, we have signed to Sire Records."

In recent events, Scott McGuire, the bassist in the band, declared that he was no longer a part of the band, stating, "The Spill Canvas has decided in order to make music to its fullest potential; they must do so with out me." There is still much speculation as to whether he was kicked out of the band or if he decided to leave. The temporary replacement for Scott will be Landon Heil, the guitarist of another band known as The Glass Atlantic. It is unknown whether or not he will be a permanent member of the band.

It has been said by members of The Spill Canvas that the new album is being recorded in March/April of 2007; however, the band has declared that it will not be released for some time.

In the meantime, the band is looking at a May 1st release for an EP they have recorded to hold their fans over until their new album arrives. The EP will consist of three original songs and two covers. A good friend of the band's has stated that one of the originals will be a redone version of "Staplegunned", one of the singles from their latest full length album "One Fell Swoop". The friend also states that there is a Fleetwood Mac cover on the EP as well.
