The Sophtware Slump is an album by the band Grandaddy, released in 2000. The album received good reviews by most media. It is seen by some as a concept album about problems concerning modern technology in society. Because of this, it was sometimes cited as the American OK Computer. The name The Sophtware Slump is derived from the term "Sophomore Slump" which literally refers to the tendency of students to do worse academically in their second (sophomore) year than in their first (freshman) year.
The term also refers to the "slump" that artists suffer in releasing their second album after their first showed some or great success.
