[edit] Background
Borucki, Broussard, and Vieu formed the original lineup of the group, along with the original drummer, Paul. The latter's inconsistent behavior and lack of commitment cut his time in the band.
The three remaining founding members of the band played a show with Crouse, debuting new material, and following months led to Mike Martin taking over lead vocal duties. The new lineup was exhibited in a Battle of the Bands, and solidified after a positive reaction from the crowd.
The Smokey Wambas went on to open for with nationally recognized acts such as Folly, the Arrogant Sons of Bitches, Big D and the Kids Table, Kicked in the Head, Jimmies Chicken Shack, Agent Orange, the Misfits, "Rookie of the Year", "Blackpool Lights", and "Nine Days". Further plans include the release of a full-length LP, touring in the western Massachusetts area, and further touring the East Coast.
The Smokey Wambas have released two records, 2004's "Those Never Found.." and 2005's "Chance Worth Taking". They're in the process of releasing their third, full-length record tentatively titled "Four Years Later". The record is going to feature the cumulative efforts of the group within the last four years, showcasing the band's growth as a band, as musicians and as individuals while depicting their transition from childhood to adulthood. The record will bring the band to places it's never been before, with deeper and darker meanings behind songs, encorporation of unconventional instumentation (including drum machines, synthesizers and even a track entirely programmed by keyboardist James Lindley), and bringing more of a sense of honesty to the group. Songs will be more lighthearted than before in some cases, while others will be stronger and heavier than the likes of avid fans have even heard.
The record is highly anticipated to drop in the summer of 2007. For more info, visit the band's MySpace, or contact them at thesmokeywambas@yahoo.com
