[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Norton's wife Trixie comes down to the Kramden apartment in a panic - Norton is sleepwalking again, and she needs Ralph to get him safely back in bed. After noting how often Norton goes sleepwalking, Ralph goes out on the fire escape and gets Norton back to bed - before almost slipping himself! Ralph complains about the fact that Norton is able to get a good night's sleep - even stopping for a bite to eat in the middle of his sleepwalking - while Ralph has to suffer. Norton then comes down, compalining about the noise that Ralph is making, preventing Norton from getting sleep!

The next night, Ralph decides to try a different tactic. He has Norton stay with him in the apartment, while Alice goes upstairs to be with Trixie. To prevent Norton from sleepwalking again, he ties a string with a small bell around Norton's wrist, places a string around his toe and places tacks on the floor. However, even in Norton's slumber, he's able to slip out of the string and avoid the tacks while going on another nightly adventure.

Ralph finally decides to have Norton get some medical attention. A doctor is called in, and Norton is put under hypnosis. While under, he reveales that he still misses 'Lulu', his pet dog when he was a child. Ralph theorizes that this is the cause of the sleepwalking - Norton is 'searching' for Lulu. Ignoring the doctor's suggestions that they need to delve further, Ralph gets Norton a dog. The next night, things seem to be going wonderfully - Norton is sleeping peacefully in bed with the dog. Ralph congratulates himself on coming to the solution of this problem. However, just as he's about to go to bed, Norton makes another visit - sleepwalking again, but this time holding Lulu in his arms, as he walks around and out of the apartment.

[edit] Quotes

Norton: Lulu! Luu-luu!

Ralph: Did you use my toothbrush, Norton?
Norton: I dunno.
Ralph: What do you mean you don't know?
Norton: Well, you got a red toothbrush and I got a red toothbrush and they was laying side by side and I didn't know which was which, so I just went, "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe."
Ralph: (holding up toothbrush) Is this Mo?
Norton: That's Mo, alright.
Ralph: Well, for your information, Mo is mine.
Norton: Oh, I knew there was something familiar about Miny.

Norton: Come back! Come back, little Lulu!

Alice: Ralph, Trixie hasn't slept for three nights. If she doesn't get any sleep soon, she'll waste away to nothing.
Ralph: "Trixie hasn't slept for three nights"? What about me? Don't you care if I waste away to nothing after three nights?
Alice: Of course I care, but you couldn't waste away if you were awake for nine years.
Ralph: (holds up fist) How would you like to waste away on the moon?

Ed: Ralph, are you sure you don’t want a kumquat?
Ralph: WILL YOU GO TO SLEEP!!!
